A Sunday Afternoon

I hear the sound of lawnmowers going, people busily going about business as usual. No thought to it being Sunday. Just another weekend day before going back to the daily grind of Monday through Friday. Yet, I remember when Sunday was a day when we went to church, had a family dinner, and then we had time to rest, play, enjoy the rest of the day. It was a day set apart from all the other days of the week.
We grew up on a farm, and we did the milking, feeding, and the other necessary chores. But we didn't do any work we could wait until Monday to do. If the crops were ready to harvest, we waited until Monday to do them. It was a day set apart to enjoy God and His creation, His day of rest, to learn about Him and to worship Him.
In our house, we have been able to keep that day of rest. What a blessing it is to know that whatever work "needs" to be done, it can wait until Monday. I'm enjoying today, and I hope you are too.
